Tractor registration assistance

If you are a member of the Friends of Ferguson Heritage please enclose a cheque for £15 made payable to Friends of Ferguson Heritage Ltd.

If you are not a member of Friends of Ferguson Heritage, I require a cheque for £33(UK) payable to Friends of Ferguson Heritage Ltd. This will make you a member until April 2018. If you do not want membership please say, but it still costs you a minimum of £33. The DVLA require a letter confirming the year of manufacture from a registered club, for me to provide that letter I require the following. We can now give registration help for any make of tractor, But there is an additional charge of £10 for makes other than Ferguson/Massey Ferguson/Massey-Harris.

Age-related numbers.

A clear photo of: A) Each side of the tractor, B) The serial number on the dashboard plate, C) The engine number, it must be readable. Photos will not be returned as I am required to keep them.

A covering letter, stating the tractor model (TEA, MF35 etc) serial number and engine number. Eg: serial number TEA 12345 Engine number S123456E, Friends of Ferguson Heritage membership number and your name and address.

A stamped addressed envelope large enough to return your papers C5 Is large enough (half A4)

When applying for a registration number you will require a V55/5, this is only available from the DVLA.

Completing form V55/5

You only answer the following questions.

• Q2 Tax class: Enter "Historic Vehicle" unless the tractor was built after 1st January 1974, then leave blank.
• Q5 Manufacturer: For Greys 'Standard Motor Company Ltd', all others 'Massey Ferguson Ltd'.
• Q6 Make: Ferguson, Massey Ferguson etc as applicable.
• Q7 Model: TEA20, FE35, MF35, MF135, MF65 as applicable
• Q8 Type body: enter Tractor.
• Q9 Wheelplan: enter 2 axles rigid.
• Q10 Colour: This is obvious.
• Q27 Year of manufacture: My letter tells you this.
• Q30 Type of fuel: This is obvious.
• Q31 Vin number: We call this the serial number, TEA 1234, SDM 1234 etc, If serial plate is missing leave blank.
• Q32 Engine number: This is obvious; it will be stamped in the engine block.
• Q33 Cylinder capacity: I will complete this for you.

Enter your name and address on back of page 1 of the form. Enter registration number only when applying for original registration

If you are trying to retain an original registration number I require the following

• 1: 1,2 and 3 as above
• 2: Form V55/5 available only from the DVLA, it must be completed..see above.
• 3: Form V765 available only from DVLA it must be completed
• 4: A copy of the documentary evidence. (E.g. Log Book or CountyCouncil records, see below)

The DVLA will only acceptdocumentary evidence that makes a direct link between the vehicles serial number and registration number,

To get it certified please send along with other requirements, and we will then supply a certified copy of log book for you to send to DVLA. Or a certified copy of your tractors entry in the local County Council archives, which Must have the vehicles serial number on. Contact the Council archives dept in the area the number was first issued, and ask, for a certified copy. They will make a charge.

The DVLA may inspect your tractor when applying for an original registration and in some cases an age-related number, you must be able to show them the serial and engine numbers on the tractor, and it must be in a complete and road worthy condition.

Dealers registering tractors for re-sale must pay £18 per tractor.
